Genshin New Region Route: Waypoints and Chests Cleared in Three Days

Why a Region Needs a Route

Every major Genshin update opens a fresh slice of Teyvat, and with it hundreds of chests, dozens of waypoints, and a wall of puzzles. Version 7.0's Snezhnaya is no exception: the frozen seventh nation sprawls across icefields, train lines, and the capital Snezhnograd. Trying to clear it all at once leads to fatigue and missed collectibles. The fix is a disciplined four-layer order that you repeat everywhere you go.

The order is simple to memorize: waypoint first, statue second, puzzle third, chest fourth. Each layer unlocks the next, so skipping ahead just wastes time. Below is a three-day plan built around that order, plus a daily material loop you can keep running long after the region is cleared.

The Four-Layer Order

  • Waypoints: teleport points you activate by touching them. They let you fast-travel and are the bare minimum before any other work.
  • Statues of the Seven: raising a statue reveals the map around it and, in Snezhnaya, can grant the Traveler a new element. Statues also heal your party and extend your exploration radius.
  • Puzzles: environmental mechanisms, challenge rooms, and hidden interactions that gate some chests and quests.
  • Chests: the loot itself, ranging from common boxes to luxurious ones guarded by mechanisms.

Follow this sequence in every sub-area. Touch the waypoint the moment you arrive, then walk to the nearest statue. Only after the statue lights up should you engage puzzles, because many puzzles are easier once the map is revealed and your party is healed and mobile.

Day 1: Unlock the Skeleton

Day 1 is about structure, not completion. Your only goal is to lay down the skeleton of the region so the next two days are smooth.

  1. Start the new Archon Quest. In Snezhnaya this automatically unlocks a starting waypoint in the Ancient Beast Glacier area, and you receive the Eye of Graeae, a goggle tool that lets you call trains, fabricate Prime Ice Constructs, and enter a third-person shooting mode.
  2. Follow the quest line far enough to activate the first few statues. Each statue reveals more of the map and tops up your health, which matters in cold environments.
  3. Sprint between every visible waypoint along the main path. Do not detour for chests yet; just paint the map with teleport points.
  4. Use the train system where available to cross long distances quickly and tag remote waypoints you cannot reach on foot.

By the end of Day 1 you should have the region's travel network mostly lit up, even if most chests remain untouched.

Day 2: Puzzles and Chests

With the skeleton in place, Day 2 tackles the meat of exploration. Sort your work into three puzzle buckets as you move through each area:

  • Mechanism puzzles: gear, pressure plates, elemental monuments, and the new Prime Ice Constructs you can fabricate with the Eye of Graeae. These usually guard a chest directly.
  • Challenge puzzles: combat or timing challenges that spawn a reward when completed. Mark them and return with a stronger team if needed.
  • Hidden puzzles: interactions revealed only after a statue is activated or a mechanism is solved elsewhere. These are the ones players miss most often.

Work chest-by-chest within a single sub-zone before moving on. A helpful habit is to open the in-game map and clear every icon inside one ring before walking to the next. In Snezhnaya, some chests and the new Stellar Prism crystals only appear after specific reactions or train interactions, so keep your element options flexible.

Day 3: Cleanup and Regional Quests

Day 3 mops up what remains and converts your cleared map into account progress.

  • Revisit any challenge puzzles you skipped because your team was too weak.
  • Sweep world quests. In Snezhnaya these include multi-part chains such as the Love and Hate of the Hesperides and the Palace Collapsing Toward the Snowstorm series, which unlock after reaching certain Archon Quest milestones.
  • Turn in the regional exploration journal, the Snezhnaya Adventure Notes, which tracks remaining tasks and rewards in one place.
  • Use the interactive map or the in-game tracking to hunt the last few straggler chests that the eye misses.

After Day 3 the region should be functionally complete: all waypoints, statues, and the vast majority of chests secured.

Your Daily Material Route

Once a region is cleared, keep a lightweight daily loop so you never fall behind on upgrade materials:

  • Claim the region's daily commission set (Snezhnaya's unlocks during the Archon Quest).
  • Run the domain that drops the artifact set you need (in Snezhnaya, the new Scarlet Proof and Heart of the Furnace sets come from the Suspended Glacier blessing domain).
  • Farm the local boss or weapon material node your current characters require.
  • Spend Parametric Transformer or similar catch-up tools on leftover resin.

Keep this loop short, under fifteen minutes, so exploration stays fun rather than a chore.

Why This Works for Snezhnaya Too

The four-layer method is region-agnostic. Snezhnaya adds cold-survival pressure and train travel, but the logic is identical: light the waypoints, raise the statues for reveal and healing, solve the puzzles that the statues expose, then collect the chests those puzzles unlock. The new TPS shooting pockets and Prime Ice Construct puzzles just become another entry in your mechanism bucket.

If a future nation arrives, resist the urge to wander. Waypoint, statue, puzzle, chest, repeat. Three focused days will clear almost any region in the game, and your Primogem and material stockpiles will thank you.

Tools That Make the Sweep Faster

A few habits turn a slow slog into a tight loop. Open the official interactive map in a second window and tick off chests as you grab them, so you never redo a cleared area. Inside the game, use the tracking pin on the regional adventure notes to navigate straight to the nearest unfinished objective instead of wandering. Cook a stack of cold-resistance or movement-speed food before you start, because Snezhnaya's low-temperature survival mechanic drains health in open icefields and a speed buff keeps you moving between statues. If a puzzle needs an element you do not have on your active team, swap in the Traveler's newly resonated Cryo form or a friend's co-op character rather than abandoning the chest. Finally, clear regional quests as you go; many hidden chests only spawn after a story step completes, so leaving quests for later guarantees a second trip. With the skeleton laid, the puzzles solved, and these tools in hand, most regions fold inside the three-day window.

Sweep Vertically, Not Just Horizontally

The collectibles players miss in a new region are rarely far away. They sit twenty metres above or below the road they walked, and the minimap does not represent that dimension reliably. After finishing the flat pass through a sub-area, run one deliberate vertical pass before declaring it done. Climb or glide to the highest reachable point nearby, look outward, and note anything below your eyeline, then descend and check every place where the terrain appears to continue past what the map reveals.

Vertical content is self-concealing. A rooftop, a ledge, an opening in a cliff face, or a cave mouth behind a waterfall rarely appears as a point of interest until you are nearly standing in it. Regions also tend to hide entire minor areas underground, each with its own teleport point, so losing horizontal coverage costs you a chest while losing vertical coverage can cost you an unlock that would have shortened every later trip.

Triage Every Locked Interaction in One Attempt

A large share of "I cleared everything and I am still missing plenty" comes from one habit: spending ten minutes on an interaction that cannot be completed yet. New regions gate a surprising amount of content behind story beats and multi-stage world quests, and those chests simply do not exist until the relevant stage resolves. Sinking time into a stubborn mechanism could have cleared a dozen accessible ones instead.

Adopt a one-attempt rule. Try once. If it does not respond, or the missing element is not visible anywhere nearby, mark it and leave, then re-check only after completing the next story or world-quest stage. This converts wasted exploration into useful queueing. It also applies to anything displaying a clearly inactive or sealed state: the mechanism is telling you it is not ready.

Visibly inactive, sealed, or unlitAlmost certainly story gatedRecord the location and skip entirely
Needs an element your party lacksSometimes solvable with a swapSwap once, then leave it
Appears after finishing a world questDesigned to be missed on the first passRun the final sweep only after the story completes

The practical consequence is that cleanup day should be ordered differently than instinct suggests: finish the narrative chain first, then do the last collectible pass, because every completed stage tends to spawn more content.

Use Detection Gadgets as a Sweep Ray, Not a Target Finder

Treasure-detection tools are routinely misused. Most players trigger one and sprint to the nearest ping, which produces inefficient zig-zags and loses markers the moment the effect expires. Treat each activation as a directional ray instead: trigger it at one edge of your current sub-area, note the bearing, then walk along that line clearing every accessible icon you cross. When the timer expires you will have cleared a corridor rather than three scattered points.

Combine this with temporary navigation markers. A marker for anything you cannot open yet is genuinely useful, but remember that most marker types vanish when you leave the session. Anything you intend to revisit across days should go onto a persistent external list immediately, otherwise it becomes another missing chest you cannot locate later. Where the game offers a portable teleport anchor, place one beside hard-to-reach spots you plan to return to, because the return trip is exactly where most players lose interest.

One further reason to run this pass late rather than early: several categories of regional collectibles have their own detection tools, their own counters, and often a shop or statue that rewards you for completing them. Working through one category at a time keeps every loop short enough to finish, whereas mixing categories guarantees that whichever one you abandon ends up being the gap you discover at the very end.

Common Sweep Failures and Their Actual Fixes

Failure modeWhy it happensThe fix
You return to cleared ground and re-check the same spotsNo persistent record and no clear boundary between sub-areasDivide the region into named blocks, finish each completely, and note which are done
You stall halfway up a climb and repeat it several timesAttempting climbs without planning the stamina budgetBreak climbs into legs with rest points and carry stamina recovery food beforehand
Hours logged, barely any premium currency gainedOrdinary containers contribute little; meaningful sources are story completions and one-time challengesClear quests before grinding common containers
Constantly pulled off the route by distractionsOptimising locally instead of globallyOnly stop for anything within a few seconds of your planned line; queue everything else

A twenty-minute audit closes the last ten percent faster than wandering. Clear category by category across the whole region rather than following the nearest ping, because working by category exposes placement patterns that stay invisible otherwise. Then check any regional vendors, since some carry stock you can only buy once and never visiting one is a permanent miss.

Genshin Impact Team Composition: Elements, Resonance, and Role Coverage

A Genshin team is not four strong characters standing in a circle; it is an engine, a converter, a driver, and a sustain slot running inside overlapping buff windows. This guide breaks the elemental gauge, reaction coefficients, and resonance math down to real numbers, then walks through three full rotations beat by beat so you can repair any lineup by changing one slot.
